System Architect Continuous Validation & Quality Engineering

The opportunity

We are looking for a highly motivated and ambitious system architect to take on the responsibility for defining and governing the architecture, processes, methods, and infrastructure required to verify and validate industrial control systems throughout their lifecycle.

The role ensures that testability, observability, diagnostics, cybersecurity, reliability, and quality are systematically engineered into control system architectures, enabling continuous validation from concept and design through deployment, operation, maintenance, modernization, and retirement. The architect drives lifecycle testing, automated verification, digital validation environments, and quality-by-design practices across control platforms and solutions.

How you’ll make an impact

• Define and govern the overall Verification & Validation (V&V) architecture, strategy, standards, and governance framework.
• Establish validation approaches for controllers, protection systems, automation applications, HMI/SCADA, communication networks, and integrations.
• Define verification gates, acceptance criteria, traceability, and release readiness requirements.
• Lead DFMEA activities across systems, subsystems, components, interfaces, and control functions, translating risks into requirements and test cases.
• Ensure design for testability, enabling validation of critical safety, reliability, and performance scenarios.
• Define and verify preventive and detective controls, including diagnostics, protections, interlocks, alarms, monitoring, and fallback behaviors.
• Govern lifecycle testing, including unit, integration, system, acceptance, regression, upgrade, and operational validation.
• Drive test automation through CI/CD, automated test frameworks, SIL/HIL simulation, virtual commissioning, and Digital Twin environments.
• Ensure end-to-end traceability between requirements, architecture, test evidence, defects, releases, and compliance obligations.
• Act as the technical authority for V&V, quality engineering, cybersecurity validation, and continuous improvement, while mentoring cross-functional teams.

Your background

• PhD or Master’s degree in Control Systems, Real-Time Systems, Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field, combined with advanced knowledge of control architectures, industrial automation, cyber-physical systems, and systems engineering principles.
• 10+ years of experience in control systems, industrial automation, power systems, or other mission-critical industrial platforms.
• Proven experience defining Verification & Validation (V&V) architectures for control systems and tailoring software development and verification lifecycles to product-specific software and hardware requirements.
• Hands-on expertise in verification, validation, test automation, systems integration, and control system lifecycle management.
• Strong knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, HMI, PLC, DCS, Protection & Control Systems, and systems engineering methodologies.
• Experience with V&V methodologies and advanced validation environments, including UT, SIT, SVT, FAT, SAT, Release Validation, SIL, HIL, Real-Time Simulation, Digital Twins, and Virtual Commissioning.
• Proficiency in test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, requirements management, traceability, configuration management, OT cybersecurity, security validation, reliability engineering, fault analysis, and operational readiness validation.
• Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and technical governance activities, with expertise in DFMEA for software/control systems and tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, RTDS, modern requirements and test management platforms, and GenAI/agentic AI frameworks
