Are you the person we are looking for to take the rare chance to work side-by-side with plant breeders and pathologists, immersing yourself in the world of horticulture and experiencing its advantages and challenges.
About the position
Subject description
Knowledge on trait inheritance and novel genetic and genomic tools are indispensable for plant breeding. The Swedish apple breeding program is currently in a state of transition considering both, the use of genomic tools and breeding targets. To support this, we are looking for a colleague who will advance our genomic research on horticultural crops. The overall objective of this position is to develop research concepts and tools within the Swedish horticultural breeding programs.
Work duties
The researcher is expected to be able to develop and lead genetic and breeding research projects with focus on adaptation and production traits, in national and international contexts. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and submitting competitive research proposals, as well as leading the implementation and management of funded projects. This includes coordinating research activities, ensuring high-quality outputs, and disseminating results through scientific publications and partnerships. Additionally, you will be part of a team of teachers and supervisors at the department, training the next generation of geneticists and breeders. The position also requires contribution to departmental and institutional activities.
