Operations Director - Grade 4

Report to: Regional director Western Europe.

Role: Lead and manage the business ensuring success in terms of brand positioning and profitability within chosen sectors and geographies

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Formulate and manage strategies to deliver the business objectives for target geographies and sectors.

• Actively identifying new business development opportunities and driving growth across the Business Unit’s activities.

• Ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with processes and procedures (governance and controls).

• Preparing bids for services in conjunction with service Directors and other Directors.

• Delivering high quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our Customers’ requirements.

• Contract management and monthly reporting ensuring that business targets and contractual obligations are being met.

•Managing and maintaining customer relationships (i.e. Clients, business partners and other consultants). Ensuring a Customer care plan is in place.

•Manage and resolve customer complaints.

• Ensure that adequate resource levels are in place to deliver projects and manage any resourcing conflicts to their conclusion.

• Leading and managing Teams and workload. Ensuring compliance with administrative requirements (appraisals, training, timesheets etc)

• People management (including performance) with focus on staff retention and development either in competence and/or career oath

•Briefing and developing employees on relevant aspects of projects and wider business.

• Leading and organising business and client development including bid management and writing for our services.

• Being proactive in ensuring that the Quality Management System is adopted and adhered to and ensure compliance with the regular audits.

• Escalating all relevant information and events that could impact business to the Line manager

• Working harmoniously with other Directors and colleague in EMEA and assisting his line manager

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Extensive experience in delivering project management and/or programme management services on construction projects, of which 3-years were in responsible leadership function in the management of major construction projects or frameworks.

• Excellent knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.

• Extensive knowledge of construction technologies and materials, sequences and methods.

• Excellent commercial background, including familiarity with contract conditions and procedures and ability to administer contracts (as Contract Administrator, Employer’s Agent and/or Project Manager).

• Sound understanding of legislation impacting on building contracts.

• Demonstrable experience of leading high performance multi-disciplinary project delivery teams.

• Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to changing environments.

• Excellent problem solving, negotiating skills, financial and numeracy management skills.

• Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.

• Proficient networker.

• Specialist knowledge of a specific industry sector (i.e. Residential, Hotels, Commercial, Retail, Leisure, Education, or other).

• Ability to develop business and prepare first-class bids for services.

• Competent at negotiating sufficient fees to both complete services and generate required profit levels.

• Demonstrable evidence of delivering services to Clients and managing Client relationships.

• Demonstrable experience of timely interfacing with clients and key stakeholders at the highest level.

• Experience of managing multiple projects.

• Ability to work as part of a team and lead teams

Professional qualifications:

• MRICS – or at least 20 years’ experience

• MAPM

• MCIOB
